    Do I need a rental car in Fort Myers?

    Most visitors should rent a car. Rideshare covers airport transfers well, but it thins out on Sanibel and Captiva and gets expensive quickly once you start visiting several beaches, restaurants, and parks each day.

    Is there a toll on the way to Sanibel from the airport?

    Yes. The Sanibel Causeway charges a $6 toll for two-axle vehicles heading onto the island. There is no charge on the return trip to the mainland, and SunPass or cash are both accepted.
